BREAKING: Emefiele seeks court ruling to contest APC presidential primary

Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele has confirmed his presidential ambition, putting an end to uncertainties about his bid to contest.

In a suit he filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja through Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), he is praying for a declaration that he is not bound to resign to participate in a primary election to select a presidential candidate.

The CBN Governor is the sole plaintiff in the suit, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney-General of the Federation as respondents.

He is praying the court to determine whether Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022 is not inconsistent with Section 137 (1)(G) of the 1999 Constitution.
