‘Count me out of petition against Oyo deputy governor’

Lawmaker representing Ibadan North East I in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Olamide Akinajo, has distanced himself from the planned impeachment of Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan.

It was gathered that Akinajo had earlier protested the inclusion of his name on the list of lawmakers who signed the petition against Olaiyan. With the development, the number of those who signed the petition has been reduced to 23.

Sources said the leadership of the Assembly also regretted listing his name as one of those who signed the impeachment move. It was also gathered that the Assembly yesterday notified Olaniyan of the impeachment move against him.

A letter by the Clerk of the House, Yetunde Awe, and addressed to Olaniyan, said ‘the error in the earlier letter referenced in paragraph 1 is regretted’.
